Dorothy Dottie White, age 82, passed away on April 1, 2012 at Christain Care. Mrs. White is the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth White Davis. Dottie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Bob White; a son Rob White and his wife Karen; and two grandchildren Meagan and Matthew White all of Smryna, TN. Mrs. White married Robert Bob White on August 2, 1952 and moved to the Canal Zone (Panama) in 1958. They lived in the town of Gamboa until they left the former Canal Zone in 1998. Dottie taught at the Gamboa Elementary School, the Curundu Elementary School, and the Balboa Elementary School Annex (later to be the Canal Zone Junior College) and finished her 38 year career as a guidance counselor for Balboa High School. She was an avid photographer, walker, swimmer, lover of the outdoors and community volunteer. Mrs. White was a member of the Panama Canal Society, a donor to and a member of the Panama Canal Museum, a graduate from the University of Oklahoma and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna, TN. A memorial visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Smyrna, TN.
