Dorothy E. Merritt Gammons,    age77, of LaVergne, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Life Care Center of Hickory Woods.   Mrs. Gammons was the daughter of the late Walter Clifton and Emma May Young Gambill.   She was also preceded in death by her first husband Wesley Merritt; and brothers Joe and Walter Gambill. 

 Mrs. Gammons is survived by her husband Lonnie Gammons; sons Jimmy (Vickey) Merritt of Murfreesboro, Billy (Becky) Merritt of Smyrna, and Donald Merritt of LaVergne; step-daughter Ginger Turner; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. 

 Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.   Bro. Joey Spann will officiate.   Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.   Grandsons and Nephews will serve as pallbearers. 

 Mrs. Gammons was a member of Burnette Chapel Church of Christ and retired from Rutherford County Schools after 29 years of service cooking school meals. 

 Visitation will be 3:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.   Memorials may be made to the  Alzheimers Association  or the  Boys and Girls Club  in memory of Mrs. Gammons.
