Dorothy Murphy "Dot" McKinney, age 89 died December 30, 2015. She is the daughter of the late Robert L. and Lucy S. Murphy. She is also preceded in death by her husband; A.C. McKinney Jr., who died in 1970; sister, Jane M. Fielder and brother, Robert S. Murphy. She was native of Chickamauga, GA and attended the Erlanger Hospital Nursing School in Chattanooga, TN where she became a Registered Nurse. She is survived by her daughter Megan M. Riordan and husband Mike; son, Don McKinney; three grandchildren, Hope Riordan, Matt & Zack McKinney and one great granddaughter Amelia McKinney.

Dot spent all her working years caring for the sick and injured at Rutherford Hospital, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Murfreesboro. She is a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro and faithfully served that church for over 50 years in many leadership roles.

Dot served ten years as a volunteer with Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. She was a staff member of "Camp Forget Me Not", a week long day camp program for youth who had lost loved ones. In 2001 she was recognized by Alive Hospice as Volunteer of the year. She was also a Girl Scott Leader for many years and an avid supporter of the Arts in her local community.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2303 Jones Blvd. Murfreesboro TN 37129 on Saturday, January 2 at 12 Noon. A visitation two hours prior to the service will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
