Obituary

Dorothy "Dotty" Martin Lewis McClung, 88, Murfreesboro, TN, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Northside Healthcare.  Memorial service and inurnment will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  Dotty was born March 25, 1929 in Welch, West Virginia, the only child of Army Colonel (ret.) Kelly and Dorothy (Martin) Lewis.  Dotty attended Tokyo American High School in Tokyo, Japan, graduating in 1948.  She also graduated from Mt. Vernon Junior College. On June 14, 1952, Dotty married the love of her life, Ed.  Together, they made over 10 places home for their three children as they traveled the globe during Ed's 22 year Army career.  In retirement, Dotty and Ed enjoyed traveling and were active participants in church life at their church of many years, St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  To her family, Dotty was a supermom, army daughter and faithful, supportive army wife.  She was active in the lives of her family members and also volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years.  Dotty was preceded in death by her parents and husband.  She is survived by sons Stephen (Tonya) and Michael, both of Murfreesboro; daughter Carol (Larry) Sparrow, of Overland Park, KS; granddaughters Kelsey Sparrow of Overland Park, KS and Brittany McClung of Murfreesboro; and great-granddaughter Harlie McClung of Murfreesboro.  Mom, Grammy, and Grandma will be forever loved and missed.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
