Donald Lee Hagerman, age 85, of Murfreesboro, TN, went to be with our Lord on December 7, 2008. Don Hagerman was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot, retiring from Sewart Air Force Base, Smyrna, TN, in 1970. Mr. Hagerman was born on February 8, 1923, in Boyne City, Michigan, to Beryl Otto and Luella Hagerman. After attending Michigan State University, he served as an Army Air Force Corps pilot in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He then held jobs as a free-lance newspaper/studio photographer in Grand Rapids, Mich., and in the Quality Control Lab at Gerber Products Co. in Fremont, Mich., before re-enlisting in the Air Force in 1952. Mr. Hagermans military career took him and his family to Germany, France and Japan, as well as to states from coast to coast. Mr. Hagerman was an Elder Emeritus for Central Christian Church of Murfreesboro, where he and his family have been members since 1965. Don Hagerman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Hagerman of Murfreesboro, daughter Mrs. Cynthia (George) McCashin of Chattanooga, TN, daughter Bonnie (Jack) Booth and granddaughter Mrs. Lori (Wayne) van Voorhis, all of Atlanta, GA. Mr. Hagerman is also survived by his sister, Laura Beckett of Grand Rapids, Mich., niece Amy Comstock of Chicago, Ill., and cousins Helen Jean Benacker of South Haven, Mich. and Jean Ann Benacker of Champaign, Ill. A memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th at Central Christian Church located at 404 East Main St. in Murfreesboro, Reverend Steve Odom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow at a later date at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
