Obituary

Dominic Catalano, Born in Pittsburg, PA, parents, Dominic Catalano, and Carmella Catalano, Dominic Robert Catalano spent his formative years in Cleveland, Ohio. Dominic attended Kent State University while also working full-time for Horvitz Construction Company. In 1970 Dominic relocated to Atlanta, GA where he continued his work in what was then Atlantas Construction with Home and Pool Remodeling. While working at the construction site for a new hospital, West Paces Ferry Hospital. He enrolled at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA where he accomplished an Associates Degree in Business. Pursuing his goals of family, Dominic and Mary were married Dominic and Mary lived Marietta, Ga. He worked for Peachford Hospital, in Sandy Springs, GA. While still working full time, Dominic graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Hospital Administration. Hospital Corporation of America hired Dominic into his first Administrative position. Relocating to Lakeland, Florida, Dominic assumed his position as Director of Human Resources of Palmview Hospital. Dominic continued his post-graduate studies as he applied for and was accepted into the Masters Degree Program at Golden Gate University. He accomplished his Masters Degree in Public Administration within one year of initiating his studies. Two promotions and relocations in Florida, promotion and relocation to New Orleans, Louisiana, two more relocations within Louisiana, Mandeville and Alexandria, another promotion and relocation to North Carolina where as Director of the Regional Medical Center. Dominic also accepted the position of Adjunct Professor of Business Adult Studies at Camp Le June Marine Base. Dominics next assignment brought him back to Florida; Tampa. Dominic chose to pursue other interests. He became interested in real estate; completing studies in real estate, he obtained his Real Estate and Brokers Licenses. However, Dominic's interest in health care was to resurface. He applied for, took state and national examinations receiving both State and National Certification for Nursing Home Administrator. As an active participant on the Governors Council on Aging for the State of Louisiana, Dominic participated and was of significant influence in the passing of legislation for funding of senior care. In 2002, Dominic and Mary purchased what was previously a retirement home. Following months of renovation, updating, staffing, landscaping and beautification, the State of Tennessee licensed the five-acre facility as a forty-bed Assisted Living Community. Yet far from the leisure days of retirement, golf remained Dominics favorite s game . . . especially when played with his favorite little-buddy Bryant. Bryant and his family became neighbors to Dominic.. Bryant and his Uncle Dom remained inseparable. Dominic Robert Catalano is a family man; his beloved wife, Mary; his son, Joseph Michael; daughter, Karen; son-in-law, Michael; grandson, Michael; granddaughter, Stephanie; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa; first born great-grandson, Matthew Gabriel. From a prior marriage, Dominic had two children, Michelle and Amy. Always a hard worker and leader in his community, Dominic is a much loved and respected man well known for his kindness and generosity. He is a man honored for his integrity, loyalty, honesty, and love of his family, his country, and his God.Funeral services will be 3:00PM Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Megan Ritchie officiating, burial will follow Wednesday at 1:00PM at Middle Tennessee Veteran Cemetery.
