Tramel
October 29, 1936 – September 9, 2025
Dr. Dennis Tramel, age 88 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, after a brief illness. He was a native of Henderson County, Tennessee and the eldest son of the late Rev. Ernest M. Tramel and Maggie Ann Peavyhouse Tramel. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Ralph Tramel.
Survivors include a son, David Tramel and wife Roxanne of McMinnville; a daughter, Mary Ann Teal and husband Jim of Florida; grandchildren, Jim Teal and wife Erica, Samantha Bell and husband CJ, and Karen Tramel; great grandchildren Haden Bell and Silas Bell; and numerous loving family and friends.
Dr. Tramel was raised as a minister's son in the United Methodist Church and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. During his 40 years as an educator, he held various teaching and leadership roles at Motlow State Community College, University of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University as well as several elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Middle and East Tennessee. He retired as the Director of Admissions and Testing at Tennessee State University. Dr. Tramel was a life-long learner and held several degrees in the education field. He enjoyed traveling, and was always ready for the next adventure, especially if fishing was involved. His happiest moments were fishing on Reel Foot Lake with his children and grandchildren.
Visitation with the Tramel family will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00 until 6:00pm. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
