Robert Dennis Johnson, 69, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away June 21, 2020 surrounded by family. He graduated from Central High School in 1969, received a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University in 1973, and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville in 1977. He worked for Vanderbilt University for 15 years and retired in 2017 as the head of the Internal Audit department.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thurman Johnson, his mother, Kathleen Judith Johnson, and the mother of his children, Melanie Greene Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children Matthew and Rachel, his grandchildren, Solomon, Peter, and Eliza, and his sister, Judy.

Dennis was a kind man, loyal friend, loving husband, caring father, and best buddy to his grandchildren. He was dedicated to helping his family achieve their dreams. Dennis was innovative and could fix or build anything that he put his mind to, including entire additions to his home. He enjoyed nature, sitting outside on his porch, airplanes, classic cars, and a good gin and tonic and cigar.
