DEAN HASKELL HIGDON, age 72, of Lavergne, Tn. died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at StoneCrest Medical Center. He was a native of Davidson County and the son of the late Luther & Bessie Briley Higdon. He is survived by his daughters, Carrolyn Gilley of Murfreesboro, Dinah Towry of Lavergne and Belinda Holland of Lavergne; son, Ricky Higdon of Lavergne; Brother, Charles Richard Higdon, Lavergne; sisters, Rena Mason, Antioch, Lois Conley, Murfreesboro and Marie Vaughn of Antioch; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services 1 pm Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Rev. Milton Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. Visitation with the family 5-7 pm Tuesday. Mr. Higdon was preceded in death by his wife Mariko Higdon who died in 2004 and a daughter, the late Gloria Jean Jamison. Mr. Higdon was a member of the Lavergne Church of Christ, a retired truck driver and a veteran of the United States Army. Active pallbearers will be Charlie Higdon, Jr., Greg Vaughn, Randy Mason, Gilbert Vaughn, Mike Cooper and David Lyle. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Higdon, Matt Burkhart and Steve Harding.
