David "O.R." Allen Taylor, age 55, of Smyrna, TN, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014. A native of Ripley, TN he was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Ray and Martha Jane Mullikin Taylor. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00AM at LifePoint Church in Smyrna. Pat Hood, Kent Shingleton, and Brian McGlaughn will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 2:00PM at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville, TN. Mr. Taylor is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Tammy Hammock Taylor; daughters, Elizabeth Foster and her husband Andrew of LaVergne, Sarah Taylor, Natalie Taylor and Garrett Taylor all of Smyrna; brother, Phillip Ray Taylor and his wife Deborah of Hendersonville, TN; along with many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Mr. Taylor was a member of LifePoint Church. He was a 1977 graduate of Ripley High School and a 1981 graduate of the University of Memphis. Mr. Taylor was the Nashville Operations Manager for Building Plastics Inc. where he loved his job and what he did. Mr. Taylor had a passion for home education and was currently serving with his wife as president of M.T.H.E.A. (Middle TN Home Education Association) He loved to watch sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, St. Louis Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans. More especially he loved coaching basketball and working with the NCC Warriors program. Mr. Taylor also had a deep passion for history. He loved all different types of music with Bluegrass, Southern Rock, Jazz and Classic Country being his favorite. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
