Dr. David L. Lavery, age 67, of Murfreesboro, TN, died August 30, 2016. A native of Oil City, PA he was the son of the late Donald and Martha Sherman Lavery.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rabbi  Rami Shapiro will officiate.

Dr. Lavery was survived by his wife, Joyce Kling Lavery; daughters, Rachel Lavery and her husband Neel Dhingra and Sarah Porterfield and her husband Jason; grandchildren, Maya Dhingra, Adelyn, Jackson and Waylon Porterfield.

Dr. Lavery was a Professor in the English Dept. at M.T.S.U. and was the Director of Graduate Studies.

Memorials may be made to the M.T.S.U. Foundation in memory of Dr. David L. Lavery.
