David Eric
Draper, Sr.
May 15, 1960 – September 13, 2021
David Eric Draper Sr., 61, of LaVergne TN passed away September 13, 2021 at home due to cancer and other health related issues.
David was born May 15, 1960 to Eugene and Peggy Draper in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He belonged to a military family where they traveled all over the United States as well as overseas. They finally settled in Tenneessee when he was a tennager. He graduated from Overton High School in 1977 where he spent his years playing the trumpet in the marching band.
Out of high school, David joined the Air Force and was a part of the security forces from 78-84. He was a DJ for a local radio station and also worked at a few clubs as a DJ. The majority of his career, he was a security guard at Bordeaux Hospital and worked for the Davidson County Sherrifs Department. He finished off his career working for Cardinal Health delivering medical supplies to hospitals.
David was a huge sports fanatic and always rooted for the Denver Broncos, UT Vols, and the New York Yankees. He was an excellent artist doing drawings and illustrations and had a deep love for music. He absolutely loved Kansas,Boston, and The Beetles. If you were ever around him, he always had music playing, day and night. He also had a love for traveling and going to Air Shows, especially with his father. He was a proud father of 2 kids and adored his 2 grandchildren more than anything in this world. He was quick to brag on them and show them off any chance he got.
David is survived by his mother Peggy Draper of Murfreesboro TN, brother Eugene (Wendy) Draper Jr, of Appleton Wisconsin, his 2 children David Draper Jr of Gallatin TN, and Jacqueline Slayton of Lafayette TN, The mother of his children Dorothy Blackwell, 2 Grand-daughters Autumn and Leila Slayton, along with 2 neices and 2 nephews and several great-neices and nephews.
David is preceeded in death by his father Eugene Wheeler Draper Sr.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 23rd 2021 at Nashville National Cemetary in Madison TN at 2:00p.m.
