Darrell W. Knox, age 63, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford. He is survived by his parents, George C. and Naomi B. Knox, his wife of 40 years, Holly, his daughters Camille and Alexandra, Camille's fiancé Charlie Sanders, his sister, Cheryl Franklin, his brother Forrest Knox, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger brother David Knox. Darrell was a graduate of Central High School in Murfreesboro and MTSU, having received a B.A. degree in English in 1972. Darrell ran his own business for many years and was a master jack-of-all-trades. He was full of amazing talents and could easily negotiate any area of the construction business, from redecorating to reconstruction. His unique skills were brought to many of Murfreesboro's finest residences, and he was beloved by their owners, not only for his expertise, but also his scintillating conversation. One of his many unique talents was his incredible ability to remember facts and details about everything he'd read, heard or seen in his travels. He was a prolific reader and could quote passages verbatim at random. He and his wife loved the desert of the Southwest, where they began their 40 year journey and spent many hours exploring and camping in remote places. For the last seven years, Darrell has been the Superintendent of an enormous project at the Garner residence in Oak Hill, TN and masterfully designed and constructed its majestic grounds. We'd like to thank our dear neighbors and friends who cared for us during this difficult time by providing nourishment and love: Linda, Marimae, Donna and Claudia; to Harold, John, Mike and Carl for your perfect friendship; and to Pablo and Jose. In lieu of flowers, Darrell's family asks that you consider donating to the Nashville Rescue Mission to which Darrell gave a tenth of his salary every month. Visitation will be at 2pm Sunday and a memorial service will follow at 3pm Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. 615-893-5151. www.woodfinchapel.com
