Obituary

DANNY DEE VICKERS, age 63 of Murfreesboro died Sunday October 31, 2010. He was a native of Manchester and had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 39 years. He was the son of the late Horace and Pervie Crosslin Vickers. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Melvin and Edgar Vickers of Chattanooga, and sisters, Dean Frizzell of Chattanooga and Gladys Bell of Manchester. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother David West will officiate. Burial will follow in the Farrar Hill Cemetery in Manchester. Danny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Joan Merriman Vickers; sons, Brian (Gina) Vickers of Murfreesboro, Wayne (Melisse) Bond of Milton; grandchildren, Izzy and Jaxton Vickers, Robert, Daniel, and Jason Bond; great grandchildren, Madison and Daxton Bond; sisters, Lois Frizzell, Lura Green both of Manchester, Naomi (Herbert) Morrison of Morrison; brothers, Claude Vickers of Chattanooga, twin brother, Dickie (Carolyn) Vickers of Manchester; brother-in-law, Culley Frizzell of Chattanooga; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was born August 17, 1947 in Coffee County and graduated from Manchester High School. He proudly served our country in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic in the Vietnam War at which time he received a Purple Heart. He was medically retired from Nissan after 23 years of service. He was a member of Lascassas Church of Christ. He was a special Poppy to all his grandchildren and will be loved and sadly missed by all. Family will serve as pallbearers.
