Obituary

Mr. Perry was born during the Great Depression in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. At the age of 85, he died peacefully at home on November 22nd. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Fay Perry. He is also survived by his brother, James Perry of Louisville, Kentucky and his family; Glen, Beth and their children, his nephew Larry Perry and his wife Sarah and their boys; his late brother Raymond's daughter, his niece Beth and her husband Mike and their kids, his sister-in-law Betty June and Scotty and Diane. There are many other nieces, nephews, and their families.
He loved all of his nieces, nephews and their children like his own. He left behind many brothers and sisters in Christ, from Ohio to Texas.

His mom and dad, Edna and Fred Perry, his brothers and sisters, Joe, Kathleen, Betty Ruth and Raymond, and his wife of 60 years, Zelma Lea were all there as he left this world behind and Jesus welcomed him to walk the streets of Heaven and told him "Well done my good and faithful servant".

He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany during the
Korean War .
He married the love of his life Zelma Lea Rupert when he returned from Germany. He had known her since his family had moved to Grayson, Kentucky during the Great Depression to work on her father's farm near Bald Eagle. Then, as a small child he pulled her in a little red wagon and soon developed a bond that has lasted past her demise in 2013.

Recently, he was a devoted, faithful member of Mt. View Baptist Church. He served in many ways in the Ministry of Jesus Christ in years past. After responding to God's calling, he left his job at the Goodyear Atomic Plant, and a home that he had completely remodeled from top to bottom, and left for Texas, with his family, in a station wagon pulling a U-Haul trailer to attend Arlington Baptist Seminary for 3 years. There he received his Bachelor of Divinity and became an ordained minister. He started, and was pastor of, a church in Columbus, Ohio; he served as the Associate Pastor in a church in West Portsmouth, Ohio, headed up Bus Ministries in Columbus, Ohio, Grand Prairie, Texas and Arlington, Texas which was his passion; reaching out to children.

The most valuable legacy he left behind was his life by example; work ethic, morality, marital commitment and devotion to God.
