Daniel M. Leonard, Sr., age 73 of Murfreesboro, formerly of Akron, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a native of Akron, Ohio and was a son of the late James F. and Evelyn McCracken Leonard. He was also preceded by a sister, Patricia Seal and a brother, Tom Leonard. Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Leonard; a daughter, Kelly Leonard of Murfreesboro; two sons, Dan Leonard and his wife Leslie of Franklin, TN and John Leonard and his wife Elana of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Patrick, John, Erin, and Chris Leonard; two brothers, James Leonard of Berea, Ohio and Michael Leonard of New Jersey. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 4, 2015 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Murfreesboro with Fr. Jacob Dio officiating. After 36 years in Akron, and being inducted into the Hoban High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Mr. Leonard relocated to Murfreesboro where he became a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and loved playing Bocce with friends. In 2005 he retired from Bridgestone as a salaried relations manager after 37 years of service. He was a great man, a loving husband, father, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
