Obituary

CURTIS DEAN HOUSEL died Sunday, March 20, 2011. He was born on September 14, 1937 in Ashtabula, Ohio. Among his many adventures, he served in the Army in Korea, moved to Australia in 1969 where he spent two years, underground, mining for opals, worked for A & P Grocery before moving to Houston, Texas. He worked for BP Oil Company until he retired in 2001 and moved to Murfreesboro. He was the Team Dad for the Blackman Girls Tennis team during his daughter, Mandys, high school years. He was a fan of both Georgia Tech and the University of Tennessee where his son and daughter graduated, respectively. He was a member of Fellowship United Methodist Church, the Breckenridge Homeowners Association and the Duffers . He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of 25 years, his son, Jeff (Michelle) Housel, his daughter, Mandy Housel, and two grandchildren, Emma and Ethan; two brothers, Wayne and David Housel; sisters, Joan Broadwater, Cynthia Armstrong, and Judy Bellville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bartley, Tom, and Jimmie; and his parents Lee and LaVerne Housel. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Morris officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
