Crawford Fortune,
Jr.
August 3, 1943 – October 25, 2023
Crawford P. Fortune, Jr. passed away on October 25, 2023. Born in Lewisburg, Tennessee on August 3, 1943, he was the son of the late Crawford P. Fortune, Sr, and Pauline Orr Fortune.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, T. Sue Fortune; children: Bonnie Fortune Bloom (Brett Bloom), Crawford P. Fortune, III (Torrie Ballantyne), Caroline Estelle Fortune; grandchildren: Ada Katherine Fortune Bloom, Evelyn Mae Flower Bloom, Jasper Davis Fortune; and sister: Peggy Fortune Stanley (Don Stanley).
Mr. Fortune was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He served from 1961 - 1964 in the United States Navy. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. While in school, he was a Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society member and served an apprenticeship with R. Bruce Draper Architects. Following graduation, he worked with Barge, Wagoner, Sumner & Canon of Nashville, TN until 1984, when he moved to Robert S. Biscan & Co., where he was employed as an architectural engineer until retirement. During his professional career, he was most proud of his design work on the McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Building in Knoxville, TN., which was recognized with a design award. During his career, he was also honored to foster a new generation of engineers by teaching drafting at Nashville State Community College. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, lifting weights at the YMCA and hiking in the Percy Warner Park System.
The visitation for Crawford P. Fortune, Jr. will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 12:00pm until the time of memorial services beginning at 2:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro.
