Cranston Way Gentry

Cranston Way Gentry, age 32, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on August 30, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Cranston was born June 28, 1994, in Nashville, Tennessee, son of Paul and Kim Gentry of LaVergne, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Brittney Gentry; children, Preslee (11), Saylor (5), and Clayton (2); parents, Paul and Kim Gentry; brothers Weston (wife Emily), Bryson, Kenton (wife Emily); grandmother, Jane Way; mother-in-law, Shauna Hixson; father-in-law, Brett Hixson; brother-in-law, Colby Hixson (wife Hannah).

Preceding him in death is his namesake, his grandfather, Arlon Way of Crossville, Tennessee.

Cranston received his education at Ezell-Harding Christian School and graduate degree at Middle Tennessee State University. Cranston worked as a self-motivated driven entrepreneur establishing and operating Gentry Design Service, serving many residential and commercial businesses with custom blind and drapery installs in the local area as well as across the United States.

Although very proud of his career, he was most proud to serve the Lord. He was active in numerous aspects of worship at LaVergne Church of Christ and if he led the singing, you always stood. His vibrant personality and love for youth drove him to serve in numerous areas organizing and leading many youth group activities. In this capacity, he was also able to promote the skills of his own children who he loved dearly. He was particularly proud of his Lads to Leaders back-to-back 1st place finishes in puppet competition.

Cranston’s most unique personality traits were that he knew no stranger, treated everyone equally, and was always the life of any event. To see that spirit dampened over the last few months makes us rejoice that he is happy and whole again, because that is how he was happiest!

Visitation will be Friday September 4th 10:00AM until 12:30 PM at La Vergne Church of Christ. Funeral service will be Friday September 4th 12:30 PM at La Vergne Church of Christ.
