November 10, 1930 – June 4, 2016
Coach James Faulkner, age 85, of the Cresent Community died June 4, 2016. He was a native of Bedford County and son of the late Thomas and Lou Alice Neil Faulkner.
Mr. Faulkner is survived by his wife Virginia Ann Todd Faulkner; son Todd Faulkner and his wife Susan of Nashville; Daughters, Leigh Ann Norris and her husband Cary of Murfreesboro and Dawne Hanson and her husband Chris of Murfreesboro; sisters, Dorothy Tucker of Murfreesboro and Betty Jo Pankey and her husband Jason of Smithville; grandchildren, Derek Faulkner, Angelia Pytlewski, Andrew and Evan Norris, Oscar and Salem Hanson, Megan Heath, Amber Grupke and Tawna Grey; great-grandchildren, Aiden Faulkner, Braden, Tanner and Taylor Heath, Gideon, Tola and Ivan Grupke, Dakota, Lilly and Jackson Bahr.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Reverend Mike Lee and Reverend Steve Hutson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Bobby and Tommy Tucker, Mike and Jodi Snell, Jay Pankey and Derek Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty McCurry, Tracy Wilkins, Chris Randolph, Larry Sneed, Harold Douglas, Don Odom, Larry McElroy, Thomas Hopkins and Campbell Brandon.
Mr. Faulkner was a member of Barfield Baptist Church and had served in the United States Army. He was a 1950 graduate of Rockvale High School and earned his B.A. and Masters degree from MTSU. He began his career in education as a teacher at Lascassas High School. He served as vice principal of Murfreesboro C.H.S. and Oakland High School and retired as a teacher from Riverdale High School in 1997. Following his career in education he enjoyed his employment at Old Fort Golf Course until 2012.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in memory of Mr. Faulkner.
