Mrs. Jewell Christine "Chris" Talmadge, age 94, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born in Centerville, TN to the late Buford and Lillian Bryant Witherspoon. Mrs. Talmadge proudly served her country in the United States Navy where she met and married her husband in what was then the territory of Hawaii. She was a devoted home maker to her family and husband as his service in the United States Marine Corps took them all over the country and the world. They eventually settled in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Talmadge was an avid reader particularly enjoying Agatha Christie and Iris Johansen novels. She was also talented in sewing and embroidery. She enjoyed watching birds particularly cardinals and hummingbirds.

Mrs. Talmadge is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bill Talmadge; son, Mark Talmadge and his wife Tracie; grandsons, Ryan Flynn, Michael Flynn, Garrett Talmadge, and Zachary Talmadge; and brother, Jerry Weatherspoon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Flynn, and siblings, Edward Weatherspoon, Faye Street, Bryant Witherspoon, and Larry Weatherspoon.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 9:00am until 11:00am at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 11:00am at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial with military honors will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
