Chester S. Murphy, age 88, of Smyrna, TN passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. A native of Wilson county, TN he was the son of the late Henry Clay and Kate Drennan Murphy. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Mae Rowland Murphy; four brothers, Byron, Henry, Marvin and Sam; and two sisters, Eudera and Katherine. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Murphy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Pete and Diana Murphy; grandchildren, Kelly Murphy and Caycee (Shawn) Ward; great-grandchildren Kassidy Clay Spence, Taylor and Benjamin Ward; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Julian F. (Margie) Murphy and Campbell Murphy; and a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Trixie (Henry) Warren. Mr. Murphy was a member of Powells Chapel Baptist Church. He was a retired supervisor with Avco and was owner of Petes Bait and Tackle Shop in Smyrna for many years. Kassidy Clay Spence, Shawn Ward, Craig Love, Jeff Love, Gene Bond, and Phillip Gentry will serve as pallbearers. Michael Fitzhugh will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
