CHARLES EDGAR WILLIAMSON age 75 of Nashville, TN, died Wednesday February 9, 2011. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Jordan I. and Ola Mai Jones Williamson. Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sara Davidson Williamson; daughter and son in law, Sandra Williamson Smith and Richard P. Smith of Lebanon, TN; son and daughter in law, Charles E. Williamson, Jr. and Elizabeth Yeager Williamson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Trey and Lauren Williamson, Brad and Ryan Smith; one great grandson, Luke Smith. Mr. Williamson in association with William M. Van Cleave were owners of Bandy, Van Cleave and Williamson Insurance Agency from 1965 to 1996. From 1996 to 2004 he partnered with Charles E. Williamson Jr. and Robert R. Van Cleave. He was active with the Insurors of Tennessee, the state industry trade association, serving on various boards and committees as a Director and eventually as President in 1990. Mr. Williamson was a member of the Tennessee National Guard for 38 years serving in numerous Command and Staff positions. In addition, he served as a Trustee and Chairman of the Tennessee National Guard Trust. He was a Master Aviator and received the Minute Man and the Legion of Merit awards before retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1994. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3701 Hillsboro Pike Nashville, TN, 37215. Funeral services follow immediately after the visitation. Revs. Steve Angus and Libby Baxter will officiate. Graveside services will be held 3:30 PM Sunday at the Gordon Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the Tennessee National Guard.
