Charles Franklin Smith, age 92 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, at his home. He was the son of the late McKinley Melvin Smith and Winnie Alice Bryant Smith of Palmer, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Lou Ella Matthews Smith. Charles is survived by his son, Charles Melvin (Janie) Smith; daughter, Marsha Lynn Smith; 4 grandchildren, Chris (Cristy) Smith, Danny Smith, James Frank and Jessica Frank; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Georgia (Carl) Self; several nieces & nephews. Charles was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ and retired from the Ford Glass Plant with 28 years of service. He also worked in the real estate community of the greater Nashville area for over 40 years and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Woodfin Funeral Chapel with Wendell Byrd and David Young officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. Family and Friends will serve as Active Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers: Elders & Deacons of North Boulevard Church of Christ.
