Obituary

Charles Donald Sandlin, age 80, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on June 30, 2013. A native of Buckhorn, KY, he was born on Feb. 6, 1933 to the late Estill Sandlin and Lillie Bell Combs Sandlin. He is also preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary Lavena Reed Sandlin. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM Friday at Zion Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro, TN in Coffee County with full military honors. Mr. Sandlin is survived by his daughter, Sheree Diane Sandlin Gray and her husband William; son, Donald Bruce Sandlin and his wife, Robin. He was the cherished Papa to his grandsons, Cole Donald Sandlin and Jack William Justice Gray. Mr. Sandlin served 26 years with the United States Air Force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He served in the Vietnam War and also was stationed in England, Korea, the Phillipines, Okinawa Japan and many other locations throughout his career. After retiring, Mr. Sandlin worked for the Veterans Administration. He was a basketball star during his high school days and loved watching sports, most notably professional football and the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball. Mr. Sandlin enjoyed traveling and visiting his children and grandchildren. The military will serve as pallbearers.
