Charles L. "Luke" Rooker, age 74 of Walter Hill, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Joseph J. and Grace Cook Rooker. He was also preceded in death by a brother Martin Rooker. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Ray Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. Family will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Rooker is survived by his wife Ann McGinnis Rooker; sons, J.B. Brandon and his wife Mindy of Christiana, Chad Brandon of the Kittrell Community and Mark Rooker and his wife Beverly of Caryville, TN; a daughter Lera Shawver and her husband Matthew of Boston, MA; a sister Joyce Rooker Harrell of Georgia; a brother Joseph Presley Rooker of Walter Hill and five grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mr. Rooker was a member of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Walter Hill and a graduate of Walter Hill High School. Mr. Rooker was a United States Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Bridgestone after thirty years of service.
