Obituary

Charles Raymond Pearcy, of Smyrna, TN, was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Edna and Talton Pearcy in 1929.He died 87 years later on December 19, 2016 quietly at home in his wife's arms.

In between were many adventures. Just ahead of the draft he enlisted in the Air Force where he was schooled and trained as a management analyst. After that he was sent to Japan in the occupying force just after World War II. His next station was Memphis where he met and married Sammye Gray in 1952. The rest of his military career meant travel, mostly in the South. He retired from the Air Force in 1968.

In the corporate world he worked for an international air shipping corporation for 27 years retiring as district manager in 1996.

His third career was when he became a Master Mason in 1997, then the Al Menah Shrine just so he could drive the van transporting children to the Shrine hospitals in Lexington, Ky. and Cincinnati, Ohio.

He served Sam Davis Lodge # 661 as secretary for the last 12 years of his life. The Freemasons are a fraternity devoted to helping the helpless. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Sam Davis Lodge # 661 Charitable Fund c/o  Sam Davis Lodge Benevalent Fund Box 364 Smyrna, Tn. 37167.

Charles was the last surviving member of his family which included his brothers Talton Jr, Eugene and sister, Mildred Bradley.

Besides his wife he leaves behind a son, David Talton (Cindy) Pearcy; step-grandson, Chad James; a daughter, Crystal (Danny) Henderson; and grandchildren, Samantha, Conor and David Henderson.

A memorial service will be held at Sam Davis Lodge, Mary Law Drive in Smyrna at 12:00 noon on January 14.
