Obituary

Charles L. Lynch, age 83, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Lynch was born and rasied in Murfreesboro and was the son of the late Thomas Gordan and Sarah Elizabeth Ragsdale Lynch. He was also preceded in death by his Step Mother Kate Jacobs Lynch. Mr. Lynch was a 1947 graduate of Central High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was the owner and manager of Lynch Construction Company for 30 years and was with the company for 47 years. Lynch Construction Company contracted the building of many churchs, schools, businesses, and factories in middle Tennessee. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was on the board of directors of Commerce Union Bank, Sovran Bank, and Bank of America. He was a board member and former chairman of the Power Board of the Murfreesboro Electric Department for 32 years and served on the board of directors of Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Lynch was an elder of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was a member for more than 65years where he served as head usher. He was a member of the board of directors of the Good Sheperds Children Home, he was a mason and member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #18. Mr. Lynch is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Joanie Gamble Lynch, children, Dr. Bruce Lynch of Memphis, Lyle Lynch and his wife Susan of Murfreesboro, and Lynda King and her husband Avery of Murfreesboro, brother, Larry Lynch of Murfreesboro, sisters, Gayle Evans of Fayetteville, and Marion Sharber Hall of Winchester. 5 grandchildren, Brandon Lynch, Grant Lynch, Robin Lynch, Bonnie Lynch, and Amber King. Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Rebecca Salisbury will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00pm Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Elders of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church will serve as pallbearers.
