November 11, 1940 – March 7, 2023
Charles Frederick Dillon "Matt Dillon" passed away at home on March 7, 2023 at the age of 82.
He was born Detroit, MI and moved to Rickman, TN when he was seven and lived there through graduation from Richman High School where he was a fantastic Basketball Player. Mr. Dillon grew up on the family farm and knew how to work.
He moved to Nashville and worked for Oman Brothers Construction with heavy equipment, the began work as a surveyor all about the state, then joined the Nashville Fire Department Mr. Dillon worked with the Nashville Fire Department for 37 years. He also worked one weekend a month at the Nashville Flea Market collecting money for booths and locations.
Mr. Dillon had lived in Nolensville for 12 years and moved to Smyrna and bought 32 acres and farmed big time with across the street neighbor Jack Hunter, they had also rented a farm from Smyrna Mayor Ridley. They ran more than 150 cows, also had Goats, Ducks, Llamas, and Donkey. Mr. Dillon enjoyed farming and planting trees and flowers everywhere for his wife and took care of them. He always had a fantastic garden and enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate.
Mr. Dillon was a Red Cross Blood Donor. Whole blood and platelets in Excess of 177 gallons, with all this were still able to get vacations have been to all the Caribbean Island, Nassau & Freeport Bahamas, often. Florida often. His favorite place was St. Pete/Treasure Island, Oahu/Waikiki at least twice. Mexico several times and toured western US into New Mexico but at least 2/3 times a year he had to go to the Smokey Mountains. Loved to hike or run. In fact, he used to run a minimum of 15 miles a day before his foot under the lawn mowers then continued to run afterwards.
Mr. Dillon was preceded in death by his parents. Bessie and Hollis Dillon; daughter, Stacye; sister, and brother in law, Joyce and James Matthews, his niece and nephew Donna House and Blake House.
He is survived by his wife Henrietta Thrasher Dillon; son Charles Dwayne Dillon and wife Judy of Lillan, AL; daughter, Leanne and Mike Rice of Hermitage, Shannon and Mark Alford of Lebanon; granddaughter, Brittany Hollingsworth of Clarksville and Kaiti Hollingsworth of Hermitage and sister and brothers in law, Linda and Charles Jenkins of Gallatin, and brother Gary Dillon of Dickson.
