Charles "Chuck" Ernest Haviland Bartels, age 81, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, died Friday, December 4, 2020 at Diversicare Nursing Center in Smyrna, TN. He was a native of Charleston, WV, and a son of the late Ernest and Lucille Haviland Bartels. Mr. Charles Bartels held a B.A. from the University of Charleston, WV., a Masters in Counseling from Marshall University, WV, and a Masters in Divinity from the Lexington Episcopal Seminary, KY.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Bartels and a daughter, Anissa Pollard Bartels, all of Nashville; a grandson and granddaughter, Jack and Rowan Pollard; his former wife, Barbara Domingo Bartels Henderson; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Mr. Bartels was a faithful member of the Church of the Ascension in Mt. Sterling where he served as Junior Warden. He worked as a mental health counselor at Pathways Counseling. Mr. Bartels was an eagle boy scout and a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America.  He was an avid hunter and a lover of the outdoors.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Funeral Chapels, Murfreesboro, TN and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
