Catherine Hartman Gordon, age 92, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday December 4, 2014. She was a native of Rutherford County, and daughter of the late Paul and Florence Parman Hartman. Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Graham Gordon who died in 1996, and two grandsons, Sherman Piety and Clint Gordon. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Darryl Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Gordon Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Gordon is survived by five children and their spouses, Linda Piety and husband Kenneth, of Knoxville, Chuck Gordon, of Christiana, Ginger Bethmann and husband Bill, of Knoxville, Gilbert Gordon and wife Ginny of Christiana, and Teresa Petersen and husband Joe, of Knoxville, forty grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren. Mrs. Gordon was a member of Crescent Church of Christ and North Boulevard Church of Christ. She was affectionately known as Catherine the Great, and impacted everyone she met. She was a member of Daughters of 1812, Daughters of American Colonists, and Daughters of The American Revolution and First Families of Tennessee. She taught French for twenty years at Cedar Hall School. The family would like to give special thanks to those at Adams Place who loved her intensely. Pallbearers will be Jim McDermont, Jack Campbell, Pettus Read, Hal Jones, Graham Gordon, Carter Gordon, Cort Bethmann, Andy Bethmann, Gordon Petersen, Trevor Piety, Skylar Piety, Charles Piety, and Charlie Craddock.
