Carrie P. Smith age 85 of LaVergne passed away Saturday May 23, 2015. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Irene Tune Akin. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Jerald D. Smith and three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons; Steve Smith and his wife Mary of Mt. Juliet, Scott Smith of LaVergne, four grandchildren; Suzanne Phillips and her husband Robbie of Murfreesboro, Jessica Smith also of Murfreesboro, Angie Pruitt and her husband David of Old Hickory and Wesley Smith and his wife Amy of Brentwood. Mrs. Smith was a member of LaVergne Presbyterian Church. She was also retired from First Tennessee Bank, was owner operator of Smith Hardware in LaVergne and worked for Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce for 17 years. Visitation will be 4:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna with Reverend Jeanne' Hoechst officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family request, that any memorials are to be made to the charity of your choice.
