Obituary

Carolyn Webster Vaughn, age 85 of Smyrna, TN went to walk with Jesus Christ Wednesday August, 8, 2013. She was born in Huntland, TN, but moved to Smyrna when she was just five years of age. She is the daughter of the late Jesse and Jimmy Dean Webster. She is also preceded in death by the father of her children, James Labor Vaughn, Sr. as well as her sister Winifred Sullivan. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Joyce Waldron and husband Roy of Murfreesboro, TN; two wonderful children, daughter Renee Vaughn Doom and her husband Charlie of Smyrna, TN as well as her son, James Labor Vaughn, Jr. and wife Caroline of Murfreesboro, TN. She has four grandchildren, Angelia Doom Harris and husband Michael of LaVergne, TN; Amanda Vaughn Carroll and husband Mike of Panama City, FL; Allen Vaughn and wife Melisa of Murfreesboro, TN and Jacqueline Gibson of Murfreesboro, TN. Carolyn has 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her family, she is survived by three of the dearest friends anyone could ever have; Phyllis Hurt, June Rowley and Joan Alford. The family would like to especially thank these three kind women for providing Carolyn with the love, compassion, laughter, and dedication that only true life-long friends can provide. The novelist Marcel Proust one said, "Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." Carolyn had been a devout member of Smyrna Church of Christ for over 80 years, a feat that has landed her in Tennessee record books for being a member of the same congregation for such a great amount of time. Her love for God as well as her love for her family molded her into one of the kindest, gentlest women anyone could know. The cards she sent for holidays would always include a blessing. The words she spoke daily would always be heartfelt and the times she spent with her family and friends were always dear to her. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Smyrna, TN. The family would also like to invite friends and family to visit before the funeral services at 10:00am on Saturday, with the funeral starting at 11:00am at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Brother Robert Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. An online guestbook is available for Mrs. Vaughn at www.woodfinchapel.com
