Carolyn Underhill, age 72 of Murfreesboro, died Sunday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She was a native of Rutherford County and a daughter of the late Herbert and Pearl Swain Batey. She was also preceded by her husband, Billy Underhill and a sister, Sherrill Becker.

Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Boone of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Skyler, Branson, and Laiklyn Boone; a brother, Frank Batey and wife Mary Jo of Murfreesboro; nieces and nephews, Mitzi Lindsey, Shelby Shackleford, Cricket Morgan, Brenda Duggin, Carol Duggin, and Mitchell Batey; a brother in law, Al Becker of Hendersonville; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Underhill was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ and she retired from Samsonite.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Tony Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery and family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
