Obituary

REV. CARL B. ALLEN, age 90, Pastor Emeritus of Immanuel Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, Tennessee passed from his earthy life on June 14, 2008. Rev. Allen was born to the late George and Hattie Allen of Tyler, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Oleta Adams Allen; sons, David Oliver Allen of Kingsland, Georgia and James Patrick Allen and his wife, Julie of Franklin, Tn.; daughter, Carla Jean Allen Dickerson of Nashville; sisters, Faye Moore, Canton, Texas and Jewell Grace Parrish of Mineola, Texas; five grandchildren; Faith (Clarence) Dickerson Hawkins, Michael (Candi) James Dickerson, David Braxton (Susan) Dickerson, Bethany Melissa Allen and Lucy Adams Allen; three great grandchildren, Campbell Michaela Dickerson, Erik Andrew Dickerson and Nathaniel Karl Dickerson. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be after 11 am Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Allen was a member of Third Baptist Church and a retired Minister after 45 years of service. Rev. Allen served on numerous boards and committees in both the Tennessee Baptist and Southern Baptist Convention, serving on the Southern Baptist Convention Annuity Board for 25 years. He served for many years as Fire and Police Chaplain in Chattanooga, Tn. Rev. Allen pastored churches in Texas, Alabama and Tennessee for over 50 years. He retired from the Pastorate to open a Tennessee Baptist Childrens Home Satellite Cottage in Johnson City, Tennessee. Rev. Allen had a special place in his heart for the children of the Tennessee Baptist Childrens Homes, serving as an Interim at the Franklin, Tennessee campus as both house parent and director. Memorials in memory of Rev. Allen may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Childrens Homes.
