Carl Alsup, age 96 of Murfreesboro died Monday at Adams Place. He was a native of Murfreesboro and a son of the late John and Lura Mount Alsup. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Roberta, his sisters Annie, Nettie, Clara, and Nina as well as two infant brothers and brothers Arlie, Hylan, Johnny, Prentice and Lillard. Mr. Alsup is survived by two sisters Lura Rogers of Murfreesboro and Mamie Edwards of Lebanon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other loving family. Mr. Alsup was a farmer, served as a deacon, and taught Sunday school for many years at Bellwood Baptist Church and later at Powell's Chapel Baptist Church. He was a faithful and trusting servant of God and once every year since he was saved in his early twenties, he would read the Bible from front to back. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mike Smith officiating.
