Calvin Jones, age 83 of Smyrna formerly of Old Hickory passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday February 20, 2012. He was a native of Wilson County and was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe Jones, Jr. and Ivie McPeak Jones Upchurch and step-father, William R. Upchurch. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Walter Hill School, a member of the Church of Christ and a Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Jones was retired from DuPont in Old Hickory. He was a lifetime member of Eastern Star 203 and Old Hickory Masonic Lodge 598. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Bobbie Sue Jones; children, Mason (Rhonda) Jones of Smyrna, Ivy (Jerry) Williams of Smyrna, Amy (Guy III) Dearmon of Murfreesboro, Suanna (Gary) Harvey of Mt. Juliet; sister, Ruth Osterfeld of Hermitage; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00AM Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Bro. Ron Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Mapleview Cemetery with Military Honors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
