DR. C. WYMER WISER, age 85, of Murfreesboro died Sunday, December 21, 2008. He was a native of the Fairfield Community of Bedford County, TN and the son of the late E. E. and Sarah Wiser. Visitation will be 4:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:30AM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Ron Harper, Bro. Leamon Flatt, and Cy Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Laura F. Gribble Wiser, sons and daughters-in-law, Cy and Rhonda Wiser of Murfreesboro, Gary and Gayle Wiser of Murfreesboro, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Sadler of Richmond, VA.,brother, Verlon Wiser of Shelbyville, sisters, Mildred Frazier of Murfreesboro, Eunice Driver of Wartrace, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Velma and Dorris Davis, Claude and Louise Gaddy, and members of the Fairfield Church of Christ where he preached for 36 years. He was preceded in death by brothers, Dr. J.E. Wiser, Dr. W.L. Wiser and father-in-law, and mother-in-law, P.A. and Onia Gribble. Dr. Wiser was member of Minerva Drive Church of Christ where he taught Bible Classes and preached when the regular minster was away. He attended David Lipscomb College. He received his B.S. degree from Harding College in Searcy AR, M.A. from Peabody College, and PhD from Vanderbilt University. He had taught at Jacksonville State University, Lispcomb University, Vanderbilt University, and Professor of Biology at MTSU for 39 years and retired as Professor Emeritus. He was the driving force with the students of the Middle Tennessee Christian Center for MTSU students to give them a home away from home. He regularly had students in his home for meals at the end of the semesters as well as the students from the Middle Tennessee Christian Center and clubs he sponsored. He loved young people, seeing their lives develop and following their career. He had preached for 65 years during the time he was teaching. He visited the Senior Citizens and those in the Nursing Homes, Hospitals and home bound. Dr. Wiser was a member of several Scientific originations and served many years as advisor to the Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society. His hobbies were growing flowers and keeping his yard in immaculate condition. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Will Sadler, Matt Sadler, Gary Wiser, Page Coleman, Jason Jones, Ellis Wiser, Andrea Coleman, Lauren Jones, Hannah Wiser, Hallee Cartwright, Hannah Cartwright, and Taylor Coleman.
