Mr. Eron Elmore “Buddy” Powers, Jr., age 63, of Murfreesboro, TN entered the presence of his Lord surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with liver cancer on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was born in Woodbury, TN to the late Eron, Sr. and Nellie Hayes Powers. Buddy was a devoted follower of Christ, a loving brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His faith in God guided his life and was evident in the way he loved, served, and encouraged those around him.
A retired teacher and baseball coach, Buddy dedicated his career to shaping the lives of young people both in the classroom and on the baseball field. He believed in hard work, perseverance, sportsmanship, and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. The lessons he taught reached far beyond the game and will continue to impact generations of students and athletes.
Above all else, Buddy treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with those he loved. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.
Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing Buddy’s suffering has ended and that he has been welcomed into the arms of his Savior. His legacy of unwavering faith, love for his family, passion for baseball, and commitment to teaching others will live on in every life he touched. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his love, wisdom, and example will remain in our hearts forever.
Buddy is lovingly survived by his children, Trice Powers and his wife Erin, Lindsey Powers and her husband Darrian Lanier, Brooke Parrish and her husband Alex, and Johnny Powers; cherished grandchildren, Karlie, Maya, Layla, Jackson, Braxton, and Josie; siblings, Jackie Powers and Timmy Powers and his wife Jennifer; nephews, Caleb and Joshua Powers; niece, Joanna Powers; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
A special thank you to Adoration Hospice for all the care you have provided, to Dr. Christian Matar’s office; and Nurse Ashley who called everyday to check on Buddy.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 at 11:00am at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
