Bryant Ronald Hardison, age 79 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee died Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home with his family at his side. He was a native of Shelbyville, TN and the son of the late Bryant Swindell Hardison and Anna Ruth Lamb Hardison. He was also preceded by his wife, Glenda MacKenzie Hardison; former wife Katharyn Diane Michel, brothers Roger Cleveland Hardison and Terry Randall Hardison, sister Emily Ruth Campbell; infant grandson Noah Greyson Causey; son-in-law Dennis Delane Miller.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Rhonda (Kevin) Causey and Kathy Miller; grandsons, Joshua Causey, Nick (Whitney) Causey, Trent (Anna) Miller, Aaron (Hannah) Miller; great grandchildren, Everly and Finley Causey, Julianna and Drake Miller, Abagail Miller, Cooper and Bennett Causey; a brother, Jerry (Peggy) Hardison, and sisters, Sherry (Earnest) Walls and Barbara Hardison.
Mr. Hardison was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He retired as a police officer from the Nashville VA Hospital but continued to serve as the President of the AFGE Local 2400 which he joined in 1985. In 1986, he was elected as President and held that position until his resignation this month due to health issues. During his AFGE tenure he was instrumental in getting weapons for VA police officers. He has also served as Vice President of Tennessee AFL-CIO for many years and served on the Executive Board. He served as President of the AFGE Tennessee State Council for several years. Under his leadership Local 2400 has organized two National Cemeteries, The Professionals at the Nashville VA, The Professionals and Non-professionals at 11 VA Clinics under the Nashville VA, 4 clinics in Knoxville, and 3 Veterans Centers. Under his leadership, the local membership grew from 150 people to approximately 900. He dedicated his life to the Labor movement and AFGE 2400 and is a true trade Unionist.
Visitation with the Hardison family will be from 2:00 until 6:00pm on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Reverend Everett Kelley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 pm in Ever Rest Cemetery of Cheatham County, Pleasant View, TN with grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Lisa Hartman, Catherine Kautzman, and Alive Hospice for their dedicated and loving care they gave in his final months and days.
