Bryan Mathis, age 52 of Smyrna, died Wednesday. He was born in Knoxville, raised in Smyrna, and was a son of Barbara Shepard Mathis and the late Gene Marshall Mathis, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Marshall Mathis, Jr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Alaina Mathis of Smyrna; a sister, Stephanie Mathis of Bell Buckle; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Bryan will always be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, and friend to many. He attended MTSU and was a graduate of Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK and prior to his illness was employed by SITEX Corporation.

Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Additional visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro. Burial will follow in the North Highland Cemetery.
