Obituary

Bruce Hickerson, 83, entered peacefully into the presence of his Heavenly Father October 18, 2015. Born August 13, 1932 in Hohenwald, TN to John and Annie Hickerson. He graduated Lewis County High School and was a member of the Methodist Church; Mr. Hickerson served our country in the United States Navy from 1951-1955. He graduated MTSU with a Bachelor of Science degree and was employed by State Farm Insurance Company thirty-four years, holding numerous positions within the company where he also earned CPCU and CLU designations. He was a fifty year mason in the Hohenwald Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club and Antique Auto Club of America (AACA) where he received three Grand National Awards for show car presentation. He was past President and a founding member of the Stones River AACA and past Chairman of the Stones River Swap Meet. Bruce was a long-time, faithful attendee of Belle Aire Baptist Church for thirty-three years serving as a Welcome Team Greeter. He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Carylon Outland Hickerson; their children, Vivi Leigh (Paul) Thompson of Murfreesboro; Kent (Karen) Smith of Jacksonville, FL and Nancy (Jack) Leich of Lincoln, IL; their grandchildren Drew (Koni) Graves, Leigha (Jesse) Jenkins, Lindsey Hodges, Morgan (Joey) Baggott, Kane Smith, Connor Smith, Kara Smith, Jennifer (Doug) Brickey, and Jackie (Jeff) Curry and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Hickerson is also survived by one sister, Kathleen Brazel of Nashville, TN. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Ferris Hickerson. Visitation will be Friday, October 23rd 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, 1488 Lascassas Pike, Murfreesboro. The Celebration Service is Saturday, October 24th 1:00 pm at Belle Aire Baptist Church, 1307 N. Rutherford Blvd., Murfreesboro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.themmrf.org).
