Broadus Evans Maples, age 70, of Murfreesboro, passed away February 25, 2015. He was a native of Murfreesboro, and son of the late Broadus Whitlock and Marie Couch Maples. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Teb Batey and Lyon Walkup officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mr. Maples is survived by his wife, Alice Davis Maples; children, Broadus Daniel Maples and Emily Elizabeth Maples; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and also his brother, Clark Maples. Mr. Maples was a member of Mt. Tabor Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He received his B.S. degree from MTSU and his M.S. degree from the University of Florida. Mr. Maples was formerly Rutherford County Trustee, a teacher, and a farmer. Pallbearers will be Ed Elam, Charles Elam. Donald Jernigan, Bud Williamson, Wayne Thomas, Doug Brown, Adam Dodd, James Osborne, Larry Osborne, and Howard Leonard. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Estes, Don Reed, Gerald Powell, Tim Steagall, Jimmy Kerr, Kenneth Carter, Craig Davis, and Ronald Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the Woodbury FFA at Cannon Co. High School in care of Courtney Nichols.
