Boyd David Longyear, age 93 of Smyrna, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 4, 2013. He was a native of Mason, MI and the son of the late Henry Binton and Blanch Hockman Longyear. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Rev. Loyd Mabry will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with Military Rites. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christine A. Longyear, son, David B. Longyear and his wife Marsha A., daughter, Miriam Alice Parsley and her husband R. Larry, grandchildren, Joshua H. Frazier, Caleb B. Frazier and his wife Cacey J., great granddaughter, Cadence Jane Frazier and his niece, Joan Ridge Frazie. Mr. Longyear was a member of First United Methodist Church in Smyrna, a US Army veteran serving his country during WWII, and a retired specialty claims adjuster until his retirement. He had a passion for serving the Lord and witnessing to others. Pallbearers will be David B. Longyear, Caleb B. Frazier, Joshua H. Frazier, R. Larry Parsley, Sheila Mann, and Jackie Tharpe.
