Boualamphanh Bouasakhone January 11, 1961 – January 25, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Boualamphanh Bouasakhone, who peacefully departed this world on January 25, 2025, at the age of 64. A beloved father, monk, and friend, Boualamphanh was known for his wisdom, kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. He dedicated his life to the path of wisdom, compassion, peace, and Buddha's teachings.
Born on January 11, 1961, in Pakse, Laos, Boualamphanh was the youngest of four siblings. He lived fearlessly, known for his daring motorcycle stunts in 1970s Laos, always pushing the limits. His journey took him from the thrill of adventure to the hardships of refugee life and the challenge of starting over in America.
When Boualamphanh arrived at Ellis Island, NY, he faced the difficult reality of rebuilding his life in an unfamiliar country without knowing English. Through travel and various jobs, he managed to lay the foundation for a new beginning. After leaving Ellis Island, he moved to West Virginia, where he stayed with Sorasack Chounramany, before eventually heading west to San Diego, CA. There, he met Lisa Chounramany, with whom he had his first child, Roney Panyavong, in 1993.
Seeking better career opportunities and a lower cost of living, Boualamphanh and his family relocated to Murfreesboro, TN, where his second child, AC Bouasakhone, was born in 1996. His career spanned 15 years at Tennex Mahle and Nissan, allowing him to build a stable life and achieve his version of the American Dream. In 2001, he welcomed his third child, Kobe Bouasakhone. He purchased a home in 2004, providing a solid foundation for his family.
Boualamphanh had a passion for soccer, American muscle cars, football, history, NASCAR, motorsports, animals, science, tinkering with gadgets, world news, and, most of all, his family and friends. In his later years, he came to realize that true peace and happiness could only be found by letting go of worldly attachments. He dedicated himself to the teachings of Lord Buddha, following the Eight Precepts on his path to enlightenment. Despite life's challenges, he remained generous and compassionate, always willing to help those in need.
Boualamphanh is survived by his sons: Kobe Bouasakhone, AC Bouasakhone, Roney Panyavong, and James Bouasakhone; his sisters: Boualamphet Bouasakhone, Nang Thic Bouasakhone, and Euy Bong Bouasakhone; his aunt, Seng Tip Visivong; as well as many dear friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Khamphatbou and Konsavanh.
A celebration of Boualamphanh Bouasakhone's life will be held 2:00 until 5:00pm on February 1, 2025, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, 1488 Lascassas Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37130. Friends and family are invited to gather in his memory and honor the joy he brought to those around him.
Boualamphanh will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
I leave you with what he has always quoted from the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you'll find, you get what you need."
