Bobby J. Smith, 80 of Murfreesboro passed peacefully into the Kingdom of God on Thursday, September 17, 2015. He was born and raised in Kirksey, Kentucky to the late Kermit and Gracie Byerly Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Kirksey High School in Kirksey, KY, and later attended MTSU. A veteran of the U.S. Army; employed by Kern's Bakery until 1976 and became a top salesman retiring from Imperial Foods in Smyrna. Mr. Smith was a caring and loving husband to Deanie Insel Smith who preceded him in death in December 2013. He was also preceded in death his parents and a brother, Hiram Henry Smith of Kirksey, KY. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Vivian Leigh Thompson and her husband, Paul, of Murfreesboro, TN son, Bobby Kent Smith and his wife, Karen of Jacksonville, FL. Seven grandchildren, Drew {Koni} Graves, Leigha {Jesse} Jenkins, Lindsey Hodges, Kane Smith, Morgan {Joey} Baggott, Connor, and Kara Smith. The apples of his eye were 3 great grandchildren, Sara Jenkins, Zoey and Jase Baggott. Mr. Smith is survived by one brother, Larry {Glenna} Smith of Dry Ridge, KY and one sister, Lillie {Elmer} Brooks of Commerce, TX. Mr. Smith is also survived by 3 stepsons Bobby {Glynis} Bragg of Murfreesboro, David {Brenda} Bragg of Wartrace, TN and Kevin {Rita} Bragg of Wendell, NC; 7 step grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro. Funeral service will be 11:00 am September 26, 2015 also at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. W.D. Thomason and Rev. Joe Vinson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors.
