Bobby J. Mitchell, age 80, of Smyrna, TN went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2014. A native of Hickory, NC he was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Effie Lutz Mitchell; one brother, and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Brother Jimmy Jernigan will officiate. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rae Brittain Mitchell; son, Rick Mitchell and his wife Sheila of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Ryan Mitchell and April Defore both of Smyrna; and a brother, Bill Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Giles Greek Baptist Church. He was a retired Supervisor over the Tool & Die Department at Greer Stop-Nut. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed playing gospel music and had a passion for custom building steel guitars. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the March of Dimes (1101 Kermit Dr #201, Nashville, TN 37217) or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105). Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna is in charge of the arrangements.
