Billy Morris Young

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Billy Morris Young, age 47, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on August 16, 2026, at 6:06 p.m. Born and raised in Culleoka, Tennessee, Billy later made Murfreesboro, Tennessee his home, where he created a family and built a successful career in IT at HSD Pathways. 

Billy was a devoted father to his son, Matt Young, and a loving son to Virginia Fay Riggins and Billy Ray Young. Billy is survived by many loved ones. These roles were central to his life, and his love for his family remained a constant source of strength and purpose. Above all, Billy was proud to be a father. The bond he shared with Matt was one of his greatest joys. Matt will remember his dad for his humor, outgoing spirit, and the deep love he had for being his father.

Billy was unforgettable in any room he entered. You knew who Billy the moment he walked into a room. He inspired others to believe in themselves and in what was possible. He also had a surprising talent… he could sing. His rendition of “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys became a signature moment for those who knew him. And then there was the “Billy clap,” his unmistakable signature move that you simply had to know Billy to understand. Along with his pink polo, his laugh, and his larger-than-life personality, these are the little things that made Billy unforgettable. The pool table was where Billy’s legacy truly took shape. A natural talent from a young age, he became the #1-ranked pool player in Tennessee at just 15 years old and went on to win Junior Nationals multiple times. His skill and dedication earned him deep respect in the pool community. Billy was more than a pool player… he became a LEGEND.

He was also highly regarded as a cue repairman, known for his precision, expertise, and, most of all, his well-respected knowledge. Through the game he loved, he built friendships, mentored others, and left a lasting impact that extended far beyond competition. His best friend, James Miller, will remember him as a loyal, supportive, and respectful true friend whose presence meant everything.

He was a father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, mentor, competitor, craftsman, and entertainer. To those who knew him best, he was simply Billy. His laugh, humor, advice, unmistakable personality, pink polo, the Billy clap, and countless stories will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Though his life was far too short, Billy left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His legacy will continue through his son, his family, his friends, the pool community, and all those who he inspired.

Visitation with the family will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral service will take place at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Gabe Adcock officiating the service. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. Billy was often seen in his signature pink polo. In honor of Billy, we invite everyone to wear pink to the funeral.
