Mr. Billy Ray Spencer, 90, of Panama City, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born in Selma, AL on April 1,1933 and grew up in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from Hewitt High School in Trussville, AL and Samford University in Birmingham, AL.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and did his flight training in Pensacola, FL. He served for several years as a pilot and also on the aircraft carrier USS Independence. Later he was a pilot for American Airlines for 26 years before his retirement.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife of 69 yrs., Colleen; two daughters, Sandy Pennington and Robyn Ehleben; son-in-law, Doug Pennington.

He is preceded in death by his very special parents, Otis and Willie Spencer; and his beloved son-in-law, Mark Ehleben, Robyn's husband.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro, TN. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

The family is especially grateful for his wonderful caregivers Anna, Mary, Trish, Laycie and Brandi.

The family would also like to recognize and give a big thank you to American Airlines for providing Mr. Spencer with his last flight from Florida to Tennessee for his final place of rest.
