Billy Joe Rogers, 79, of LaVergne, TN passed away February 15, 2009. After working over 35 years for Bell South and AT&T, Mr. Rogers retired in 1984. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lola Rogers. A veteran of the Koren War era, USAF, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gail Bundrant Rogers. Surviving children are Everett (Carole) Rogers of Brenham, TX, Neil (Mary Ann) Rogers of Smyrna, TN, Wain (Donna) Rogers of LaVergne, TN, Terry (Brenda) Miller of LaVergne, TN and Connie (Keith) OBanion of Horse Cave, KY; four grandchildren Rebecca and Abbey Rogers of Smyrna, TN, Preston and Spencer Rogers of Mesquite, TX; step-grandchildren Nathan, Jay and Daniel Bean (USMC) of LaVergne, TN, David, Ryan and Scottie Miller of LaVergne, TN and Jessica O'Banion of Horse Cave, KY. Mr. Rogers was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN. An antique car and truck enthusiast, Mr. Rogers, along with his wife, Gail, spent the winters in Wauchula, Florida. His hobbies were traveling, going to antique shops and he loved the history of The Civil War. In loving memory of Mr. Rogers memorial gifts may be sent to Parkway Baptist Church, Building Fund, Smyrna, TN, or Good Shepherd Hospice House, Auburndale, Florida. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8pm, Funeral Services will be Friday at 11am at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna, TN with Rev. Dan Parker and William Bundrant officiating.
